Nutella Chocolate Chunk Cookies

Nutella fans will love these soft and chewy cookies swirled with Nutella and loaded with chocolate chunks. They are definitely one of my favourite cookies!

The combination of Nutella and cookies are just meant to be – like who wouldn’t want a mouthful of Nutella and cookie in one heavenly bite?! The cookies themselves are buttery with chewy edges and soft centres. The swirled Nutella running through makes them even more delicious.

This is another recipe that doesn’t require the cookie dough to be chilled! These are amazing eaten warm when the Nutella and chocolate chunks are slightly gooey.

Nutella Chocolate Chunk Cookies

Ingredients

  • 125g butter or baking spread
  • 100g light brown sugar
  • 75g plain white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 150g Nutella or chocolate hazelnut spread
  • 300g plain flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 150g chocolate chips or chocolate chopped into chunks

Method

Preheat the oven to 180C (350F). Line 2/3 large baking trays with baking paper.

Beat the butter and sugars together until light and fluffy. I use an electric mixer. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.

Mix in the flour, baking soda and salt until combined. Add the Nutella and beat very briefly (a few seconds) until it is swirled but not completely mixed through otherwise the dough will become too crumbly. Stir in the chocolate chips.

Roll the dough into balls, about 1 1/2 tbsps per cookie, and place spaced apart on the baking trays. I like to reserve some chocolate chunks and press them into the tops of the cookies just before baking, but this is entirely for looks. Bake for 11-13 minutes. The centres will looks soft but will firm up as they cool.
